01Overview

This policy describes how Village (“Village,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Village website and application (the “Service”). The short version: your work — the text and files you submit, the feedback the Service generates, and your chat history — is private to your account. It is never sold, never used to train AI models, and never used to build advertising audiences. What we measure for analytics and advertising is limited to how the product is used, never what you put into it.

02What we collect

Account information

When you sign up we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile identifier.

Content you submit

The text, context, goals, and file attachments you submit for simulation, and the resulting personas, reactions, scores, summaries, and chat history (“Content”). Content is stored so you can revisit your runs and is visible only to your account.

Billing information

Payments are handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We receive your plan, subscription status, and transaction metadata; we never see or store full card numbers.

Usage and device data

Product events (for example: a simulation was started, a checkout began), page views, approximate device and browser characteristics, and — when you arrive from a marketing link — campaign parameters such as UTM tags and ad click identifiers.

03How we use information

  • to provide the Service: run simulations on your Content, store your results, and operate your account and subscription;
  • to secure the Service: authentication, abuse prevention, and enforcement of usage limits;
  • to understand and improve the product: aggregate usage analytics (never the substance of your Content);
  • to measure marketing: attributing signups and purchases to the campaigns that brought them, subject to your consent choices;
  • to communicate with you: sign-in links, receipts, service notices, and support.

04AI processing

To generate simulated feedback, your submitted Content is processed by enterprise AI infrastructure under contractual terms that prohibit the use of your Content to train any models. Your Content is transmitted for processing only, and the resulting output is returned to your account.

Village does not train AI models on your Content, your results, or your chat history — they exist solely to serve your account, and conversations with personas stay private to you.

05Analytics & advertising measurement

Product analytics

We use a product analytics service to understand which pages are visited and which product actions happen (starting a review, reaching checkout). Events are keyed to a random identifier and, when you are signed in, to your account ID. Analytics events never include the substance of your Content — no submitted text, no uploads, no personas, no feedback, no chat history. Session recording is disabled.

Advertising measurement

To measure our ad campaigns, we work with third parties — the advertising platforms we advertise on — that provide a measurement pixel. With your consent, it reports conversion events (for example that a signup or purchase occurred, with the amount) and ad click identifiers back to the platform the ad ran on, and may be used to build audiences of Service visitors on that platform. Our campaigns currently run on X (formerly Twitter). The pixel loads only if you allow “Marketing” in the cookie preferences. We never share your Content or the subject matter of your work with any advertising platform.

Campaign attribution

When you arrive from a marketing link, we store the campaign parameters (UTM tags, click IDs) in a first-party cookie for up to 90 days so we can attribute a later signup or purchase to the campaign that brought you. This metadata never affects pricing or features.

Your controls

The consent banner (and the “Cookie settings” link in the footer) lets you reject analytics cookies and advertising at any time. Rejecting analytics stops analytics collection; rejecting Marketing keeps the advertising pixel off entirely. You can additionally opt out of X’s interest-based advertising in your X ads preferences or through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tool at optout.aboutads.info.

06Cookies

07Service providers & sharing

We share information only with the service providers that run the Service, each limited to its role and bound by data-protection terms: identity and sign-in services, cloud hosting and storage infrastructure, AI processing infrastructure, a payment processor, a product analytics service, and — only with your consent — the advertising platforms we advertise on, for conversion measurement. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Village or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy continues to apply to previously collected data). We do not sell your personal information. A current list of the categories of recipients is available on request at support@tryvillage.io.

08Data retention

  • Account data and your simulation history are kept while your account is active.
  • Uploaded files are retained for up to 90 days after submission; files uploaded but never submitted are deleted within about 2 days.
  • The attribution cookie expires after 90 days; consent choices are kept for 1 year.
  • Billing records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.

09Your rights & choices

You can access your data in the app, and you can request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support@tryvillage.io from your account email. We verify requests and respond within the timelines required by applicable law.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information; to opt out of the sharing involved in advertising measurement, use “Cookie settings” to disable Marketing, and we honor that choice per-browser. Where consent is the legal basis, you can withdraw it at any time the same way.

10Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit, scoped server-side credentials, verified session cookies (HttpOnly), signature-verified payment webhooks, and private storage for uploads. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as required by law.

11Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12International users

Village operates from the United States and processes data on U.S.-based infrastructure. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time by posting the revised version here and updating the date above. Material changes will be announced through the Service or by email where feasible.
